Iranian film ‘Simulation’ to compete in Polish festival

Iranian feature film ‘Simulation’ is to vie at the Ars Independent Festival in Poland.

Iranian feature film ‘Simulation’ has been selected to screen at the Ars Independent Festival in Poland.

Iranian director Abed Abest’s debut film will contend against six other films at the 7th edition of the Ars Independent Festival, which will be held in the Polish city of Katowice from September 26 to October 1.

The 85-minute drama depicts three young people who are looking for a place in their hometown to have an enjoyable time over the weekend.

While discussing over a variety of options, they finally decide on the house of an old man. In the past they had only visited him once and did not have any particular close relations with him.

The old man welcomes them, but the party leads to a tragic catastrophe for all of them. Despite beginning on a good start, the night concludes with each of them starting trouble and quarreling, concluding with a police intervention and the beginning of a tragedy.

Poland’s Ars Independent Festival remains one of the most important festivals in the country – along with the Warsaw Festival – accepting only seven films every year in the competition.

The Ars festival dedicated to first-time filmmakers around the world who have a modern approach to cinema.

Abed Abest is a multidisciplinary artist working in the film industry as an actor, writer, director, cinematographer and producer.

‘Simulation’ has been featured at various festivals around the world such as the 16th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival in Romania as well as Shanghai International Film Festival in China.
